Share your memories of Sir Tim Brighouse

As part of the Sir Tim Brighouse: A Life for Education event taking place on Saturday 15 June, three short videos will be produced to share personal memories of Tim and his achievements.

Each video will be a compilation of testimonials from individuals who knew or were inspired by Tim. They will showcase the breadth and depth of his impact on education, and the lives he touched.  We would like to invite you to submit a short video.

Videos may be edited for length, and it may not be possible to include every submission. A selection of unedited videos may be made publicly available on the event website. Your video and any other personal data that you share with us will only be used in connection with this event and the event website. We will hold and process your data securely and in line with all data protection requirements.

You can submit your recording in four easy steps:

Keep it short - no more than 40 seconds

Record it in landscape format

Save it using your name as the file name

Send it to us at alifeforeducation@gmail.com by no later than 9am on Tuesday 7 May

Tips for recording a good video
  • You can record your video on your phone or laptop. No special equipment is needed
  • Sit so that you are facing towards a light source. Do not sit with your back to a window
  • Sit close to your device so that your head and shoulders fill the screen with only a little space around you
  • Record your video in landscape (that is, so that the screen is wider than it is high). A laptop will do this automatically, but if you are using a mobile phone you will need to hold it on its side
  • Make sure you are in a quiet space, and that you are close enough to your device that your microphone can pick up your words clearly
  • Once you have pressed record, take a couple of breaths before you start speaking. This helps to make sure that the beginning of your message is not clipped.
  • Once you finish speaking, pause for two or three seconds without moving before you stop recording. This helps to make sure the end of your message is not clipped.
  • If your message is interrupted (for example, if you muddle your words, or you are interrupted by sirens in the street outside) please either:
    • Discard the recording, and re-record your message from the beginning, OR
    • Pause for three or four seconds, and start your message again from the beginning.
